FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • How should I prepare for a wax/sugaring?
Stop shaving now! Allow the hair to grow for three to four weeks prior to your waxing appointment.
  • How often should you get waxed?
No sooner than four weeks! I normally tell my clients between 4-6 weeks. But everyone schedule is different.
  • What is the difference between sugaring and waxing?
Tranditional Wax is made of resins which adhere to skin cells. (its a Chemical based wax) Wax sticks to any surface it is applied to, pulling it away causes unwarranted pain. It's kept in a heating pot for usage. Wax is applied the way the hair grows and removed in the opposite direction of hair growth.. (popluar usage for brow waxing) Sugaring only sticks to the hair and dead skin, its room temperature and warms up from the body temp, its all natural made with lemon, sugar and water. Sugaring is applied to the hair in the opposite direction of hair growth and is removed in the same direction of hair growth, its non-irritating, has less swelling, inflammation and redness.

  • What is exfoliating and when should I do it?
Exfoliating means removing the dead skin cells from the skin clearing the way for the newer skin underneath to appear. There are different ways to exfoliate but the one of the most common and easiest ways are with a body scrub, loofah or brush. (CHECK OUT OUR LOOFAH SOAP BARS AND BODY SCRUBS, available online for shipping or at our Ferndale location) A good routine is to exfoliate every 2-3 days. However, do not exfoliate the same day you get sugared, because sugaring itself is a form of exfoliation. Exfoliate 3-5 days after getting waxed. Exfoliate every 2-3 days
